Well here it finally is, the much-awaited starting line up of SIX real ales for the re-opening of the Adam and Eve!
Abbot Ale (Greene King) ABV 5.0%
The famous Domesday Book chronicles "cerevisiarii" or ale brewers as servants of the Abbot in the town's Great Abbey. The Greene King brewery sits alongside the historic ruins of the Abbey and to this day the brewers still draw water from the same chalk wells used by brewing predecessors all those years ago.
Directors (Wells and Young) ABV 4.8%
Originally only brewed for the Courage directors, the spare beer was sold locally as Alton's IPA, but soon became known as Director's. The Courage Brand was purchased by Wells & Young Jan 2007.
Deuchars (Caledonian Brewery) ABV 3.8%
Robert Deuchar ran breweries both in Edinburgh and Newcastle upon Tyne in the 1890s. So his name has long been associated with the brewing world of Edinburgh.
Doom Bar (Sharps) ABV 4.0%
Where the river Camel meets the Atlantic Ocean on Cornwall’s rugged north coast, a sand bank, centuries old, known as the Doom Bar protects and calms this beautiful estuary. Sailors respect the Doom Bar knowing it to be unforgiving if met with haste or arrogance.
Old Speckled Hen (Greene King) ABV 4.5%
First brewed in 1979 by Morland Brewery to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the brewery’s MG car - the mud splattered Ol’ Speckled ’Un. Brewed since 1999 by Greene King following the take-over.
***Guest Ale***
Bah Humbug (Wychwood) ABV 6.0%
Bah Humbug is a 6% abv brew using not just the traditional malted barley and hops, but also a big sprinkling of cinnamon.
