Having reported with some excitement a number of weeks ago that we had been allowed by tied landlords Scottish & Newcastle to stock a small amount (20 barrels per annum) of real ale brewed by a small independent local brewery (micro-brewery), Scottish & Newcastle have gone back on their word and now told us that this will no longer be possible.
In spite of our offer to pay a corkage on the barrels which would have meant we would have made no profit whatsoever on any beer festivals featuring the Locale, and the fact that the Adam and Eve is now selling more of S&N's product than at anytime in recent years, S&N have refused to reconsider.
All in all a disappointing turn of events that leaves a particularly sour taste in the mouth...
